John Macpherson gave evidence to the Napier Commission at Castlebay on 26 May 1883. I have not been able to find any reference to a John M(a)cpherson in enumeration district 108 (Barra) in any of the censuses. Fortunately, the fact that he was the witness for Kentangaval allows the retrieval of the death record.
John Macpherson, crofter, was the son of John and Marion (nee Macphee), and the widower of Catherine. He passed away on 22 September 1885 at the age of 65 of nervous disability and paralysis.
