Rev Roderick Macdonald is the minister to the parish of South Uist, and he gave evidence to the Napier Commission at Lochboisdale on 28 May 1883.

Roderick Macdonald was born in 1820 at Vallay, North Uist. He was the son Susan Mackinnon and Archibald Macdonald, tacksman of Kirkibost, North Uist. He married Marion Maclean on 30 October 1851, and had seven children (Archibald, later minister of Kiltarlity, Inverness-shire; Elizabeth, Roderick, Alistair, Susan, Flora Alexandra and Harriet Christina).
Roderick was ordained to Harris in 1847, and was presented, translated and admitted to South Uist in 1854.
Roderick died on 31 March 1900.
